Bernie Miller (in collaboration with Alan Tregebov) | Veer (Proposal for a Monument to Emma Goldman)
1998 | pencil & watercolour on paper | variable dimensions

This large-scale drawing in watercolor and pencil presents an exciting play on perspective. Lines expand and contract in space, offset by punctuations of color. Bernie Miller is renowned for his uncanny public art on view in cities across Canada; his smaller scale works are also held in important collections across the country.

Bernie Miller is a Toronto born artist currently based in Winnipeg, Canada whose work in public sculpture explores monumentality, history, and identity relating to place. Miller graduated from the Ontario College of Art in 1974 and was the recipient of the Ontario College of Art Medal. His work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions, recently including Sensing the Future: Lázlo Moholy-Nagy and New Media, Bauhaus Archiv-Museum fur Gestaltung, Berlin and Plug In ICA, Winnipeg; My Winnipeg, la maison rouge, Paris; and Five Minute Mirror, Blackwood Gallery, Mississauga. Miller has been commissioned to create major public artworks in Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, and Winnipeg. He is represented by Paul Petro Contemporary Art, Toronto.
