Drawing and painting from memory and observation, Brandon Doty’s illustrations are often comedic and perverse, identifiable by their striking line-work and dry-brush application. Doty graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Alberta College of Art & Design in 2005, and holds an MFA from the University of Guelph (2015). From 2007 to 2009, Doty operated the National Gallery of Saskatchewan in Canora, Saskatchewan. In 2017, Doty was Toronto’s Underground Comedy Club Artist-in-Residence, and in 2018 he founded a publishing house, National Gallery of Saskatchewan Press. Recent showings include solo and group exhibitions such as, This Is A Bowl Full of Eye-balls, The New Edward Gallery, Calgary; Auto Feeling, Katzman Contemporary, Toronto; Controlled Burn, The Mini Art Museum, San Antonio; and Carte Blanche, DNA Gallery, London.
