Ray Fenwick is a performer who brings visual materials to life. His work for the Plug In gala formed a key element in his solo exhibition A Greenhouse. Evening. at the institute in early 2017. The tapes are recordings of his sincere attempts to speak with plants. They played in a greenhouse in one of Plug In galleries as if urging the plants to grow.
Fenwick is Winnipeg-based working in performance, sound, video, and typography, often exploring relationships existing between language, communication, and voice. Fenwick completed his MFA Degree at the University of Manitoba, and has exhibited in both Canada and the United States. He has performed at Mass MoCA’s Oh Canada exhibition, North Adams, Massachusetts; Halifax’s Nocturne Festival, and at the recent Saltboxperformance festival in Newfoundland.
