Irene Bindi is known for her precision, thoughtfulness and refined technic. Her cut paper collages have a deep seeded meaning that is both abstract and grounded in the real. Her collage creates an intricate layering of paper that is refined appearing effortlessly exploratory and decidedly deliberate.
Irene Bindi is a multidisciplinary artist based in Winnipeg, Canada whose work explores the conceptual and material possibilities of alternative cinematic modes. Bindi received her Master in Film & Video from York University. Her collage, film, and sound works have appeared at venues across Canada and the United States, Cinémathèque québécoise; Cinematheque Ontario; the Alamo Drafthouse, Austin, TX; and The Kosmos, Albuquerque, NM. Recent exhibitions include At the Corner, Platform Centre for Photographic and Digital Arts, Winnipeg; Elevator, Tweed Museum of Art, Duluth; The Wind Men are Coming, Ace Art Inc., Winnipeg; and Moon Rehearsal Tape, Plug In ICA, Winnipeg. Bindi was a member of the WNDX Festival of Moving Image curatorial collective and has been collaborating on sound/noise projects with Aston Coles since 2008.
