Lise Latrielle | Mesh
2015 | Inkjet print | 24 x 24”
Beautifully printed, this large-scale photograph draws the viewer in, then throws up a messy barrier – the screen. The soft green hues of trees are interrupted by the sharp focus of a screen. Mesh, the works title and a description of the material depicted considers the limitations and potential for visual and physical permeability of domestic barriers.
Lise Latreille is a photographer based in Montreal who attends to the poetics of space through investigations of surface and materiality, and the delineation of public and private. Latreille is currently completing her MFA at Concordia University in photography. Her work has been shown nationally and internationally, including the FOCUS Photography Festival, Mumbai; Galerie VU, Quebec City; and Galerie La Castiglione in Montreal. She recently completed a residency at Y Residence in Athens, Greece.
