Ray Fenwick | Proscenium Study
2016 | ink & wash on paper, mounted on panel | 11 x 11 in

…and the curtains open into the mind. This ink and wash line-drawing is a key to Ray Fenwick’s process and intent. Much of his work is generated with the desire to get closer to the unconscious. He works to expose the essence and material of the unmediated mind. To those who don’t know his deep and humourous artwork you will have a chance to experience new work in his solo exhibition at Plug In ICA in the Spring of 2017.

Ray Fenwick is a Winnipeg based interdisciplinary artist who works in performance, sound, video, and typography. His work playfully explores relationships existing between language, communication, and voice. Fenwick received his MFA from the University of Manitoba’s School of Art in 2013 and his BDes Honours from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 2004. His work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group presentations, including Deliveries, performed as part of Nuit Blanche, Winnipeg; Hang In There, Owens Art Gallery, Sackville; and Ten Eleven Twelve, Mulherin + Pollard, New York. Fenwick’s performance work has been featured locally and nationally, recently including Rhetoric-toc-tic-toc at Plug In ICA as part of Send + Receive: A Festival of Sound, Winnipeg and Le Moat Juice at Truck Gallery, Calgary.
