Robert Taite | Untitled
2015 | Latex on canvases | 15 x 24”
Untitled from 2015 is exemplary of Taite’s iconic style. Painted assemblages – constructions of wrapped canvas reveal and conceal multiple geometric frames. Flat colors emphasize the surface quality of the paint, emphasizing the role of formalism, and a playful materiality that underscores all of Taite’s work.
Robert Taite is a painter living and working in Winnipeg. Using the languages of minimalism and conceptualism, Taite exploits the material elements of painting. He received his BFA at the University of Manitoba in 2009 and was a finalist for the 2014 and 2015 RBC Canadian Painting Competition. He has shown throughout Canada and has a forthcoming exhibition at Cydonia in Forth Worth, TX (January 2018).
