Acclaimed artist Wanda Koop stunning artwork for Plug In’s gala is a diary of sorts. Here she revisits her work, pairing earlier paintings in a digital collage next to architectural spaces in transformation. New Museum references her thinking, associations and influences while capturing the artist’s enigmatic working process and thinking.
Wanda Koop is one of Canada's most distinguished artists. Her painting career spans four decades. Her art is represented in numerous public and private collections Nationally and internationally. In 2011 the National Gallery of Canada, together with the Winnipeg Art Gallery, organized a major survey of her work. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including honorary doctorates from the University of Winnipeg, the Emily Carr University, Vancouver and the University of Manitoba. She is a Member of the Order of Canada, and recently received the distinguished Governor General Medal and the Order of Manitoba. In 1998 she founded Art City, an inner-city store front art centre in Winnipeg. Wanda is currently represented by Division Gallery in Toronto, Montreal and New York.
