Aleksandra Domanovic | GROBARI
2015 | stack of inkjet printed office paper | 8.5 x 11 x 13 in

GROBARI is part of Aleksandra Domanović’s Paper Stacks series, which are artworks constructed with thousands of sheets of office paper. By utilizing the “borderless” function of a standard inkjet printer she has produced monuments with images formed on the edges. GROBARI uses images collected from the Web of flares fired by extremist football fans in the former Yugoslavia.

Aleksandra Domanović is a Berlin based artist who has garnered international acclaim for her highly researched works on the history of media and technology, specifically relating to the role of women. Conditioned by the terms and aesthetics of digital media, Domanović’s work often utilizes the web as a tool, medium, and organizing principle. Her recent solo and group exhibitions include Mother of This Domain, Plug In ICA, Winnipeg; The Future Was at Her Fingertips, Tanya Leighton Gallery, Berlin; Meanwhile, Suddenly and Then, 12th Biennale de Lyon, Lyon; and Infinite Inclusion, Jessica Silverman Gallery, San Francisco. In 2006, Domanović co-founded the collaborative blog VVORK, a rolling archive of posted artworks that functioned as a public sketchbook and gathered over 5000 posts before its end in 2012.
