2016 | giclee print, coloured gel | 8.75 x 11.25 in

This established Canadian artist collective has been quoted as saying “that as a colour they are fluorescent pink.” This black and white print and assemblage is part of an ongoing series related to pink noise from which they have produced videos, events, performances, black light posters, cassette tapes and will soon release a 7” vinyl. Even though the switch is toggled to white, pink resonates in the eyes.

Instant Coffee is an artist and curatorial collective that is based out of Vancouver and Toronto. They create installation, events, and public art projects that incorporate social methods of making, maintaining the exploratory conditions of a studio based practice in public. The collaborative efforts of Instant Coffee have been part of frequent national and international exhibitions, including Magic Hour, Nikkei Art Gallery, Burnaby; Pink Noise, Kamloops Art Gallery, Kamloops; Bunker Project, Incheon Art Gallery, Incheon, South Korea; Feeling So Much Yet Doing So Little, Western Front, Vancouver; Disco Fallout Shelter, Subvision Hamburg, Germany and Toronto Sculpture Garden; and Light Bar, which was installed at Art Gallery of Victoria, BC, Vancouver, BC during the Olympics, HMK Project Space, Netherlands, and in Vancouver in 2010 during the Olympics and in 2014 during the New Forms Festival.
